I
wanted to share some of my favorite perfumes that are in constant rotation. Before I dive into those let’s chat about about perfumes in general and how I really feel about them.
First straight out the gate——price doesn’t always indicate quality. Just because a perfume is expensive doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better than a cheaper perfume. In fact there are so many terribly overly priced perfumes out there. Trust me I’ve wasted money on some expensive brands that I only wore a few times before saying it’s a NO. Follow and trust your nose to find what’s good.
Secondly, I don’t think that you should pay attention to gender. Perfumes have been gendered marketed toward male and female which define how the majority of us shop for our fragrances. It’s ok to wear a fragrance that wasn’t specifically made for your gender. Whatever gender label on the bottle isn’t important. If it resonates with you then wear it.
There is no right or wrong in perfume. It’s so subjective. Perfumes that I love may not appeal to the next person.
I actually went years without wearing a lot of perfume. At one period I only wore scented lotions. Not really sure why though. About thirteen years ago I received a bottle of perfume for a gift and that ignited my desire to wear fragrances again. Today it’s my absolute favorite. (In walks Angel) I reach for it more than any of the others that I currently own.
Do you have a signature scent?
A fragrance that sums up the best of you, your style and your personality?
Lets start with the basics. Perfumes are made up of combinations of different scents. They can include floral, oriental, woody or fresh notes.
Most fragrances are dominated by one of these categories. If you try a few different fragrances, you might notice that you’re drawn to one specific type. Many people love the aromatics of oriental scents, while others enjoy soft florals, fresh citrus notes, or fragrant wood scents.
Once you know what type of fragrance you prefer, it will be much easier when searching.
Different perfumes wear differently. There’s a huge variety from that scent that lingers for days, to the spritzes that wear off quickly. This is an important factor when you consider your signature scent. Some people like strong fragrances; others don’t. If you work in an office or store, you might want to stay away from big fragrances at work which could bother other people. Some people get headaches and nauseated from perfume. If you work alone, you can smell however you like!
I mention this because when I worked in the office years ago I would get a headache every time my colleague was around. Her fragrance was very heavy and it made me sick
In the end, the best fragrance is the one that makes you feel great!! When you find the right one you will know!
These are my current favs!!
